The COEIT Shared Service Center is dedicated to supporting COEIT and DOIT community by providing exceptional, streamlined service for Payroll, Procurement, Finance and Research Administration.
Our mission is centered on simplifying operations, enhancing accountability, and fostering growth and excellence. We achieve this by building strong, collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, students, and other university departments.
Through our commitment to responsive, high-quality service, we empower the COEIT community to concentrate on their core impact and attain their goals.

What we do
We strive to provide seamless support to our faculty, staff, and students. Although each department is assigned to an individual team member as the first point of contact. Also, we serve as a liaison between you and other UMBC offices such as HR, Financial Services, Procurement, OSP and/or external counterparts.

Handles new hire onboarding for faculty, staff, GAs, TAs, students as well as other Payroll functions, ex. salary adjustments, contract renewals, etc; Timesheet processing; Vendor payments; Procurements; and Travel/Misc Reimbursement Compliance standpoint

Prepares Annual Budgets and Monthly Reports for State funds and Department accounts; Reviews & Approves transactions from a financial & compliance standpoint.

Pre Award
Assists Faculty with administrative and financial support from internal routing to Proposal Submission to sponsor. Supports with robust Budget and Budget Justification; Guidance faculty through internal processes and coordinates with parties to ensure timely submission.

Post Award & Self Support
Support Faculty from the time the Award is received until close outs. Prepare reports, reconciles accounts, projects future spending.
